Family Life Centre Coordinator

The Family Life Centre Coordinator will actively promote the SJCC’s Shalom Baby program welcoming and connecting young families raising Jewish children to the SJCC and the Jewish community, create and implement programs for families with young children ages 0-6, and coordinate the SJCC’s HaKibbutz program for Hebrew speaking children.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, warm and welcoming, with deep commitment to Jewish values and culture who recognizes that Jewish life is extremely diverse and includes people of all races, ethnicities, observance, experience and interests. As part of the SJCC’s engagement team, they will collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the JCC continues to be a central gathering place to build community through lifelong learning, recreation, wellness and cultural connection to Israel.

Responsibilities & Opportunities
Shalom Baby Program
• Actively reach out to find and welcome new families raising Jewish children.
• Design opportunities for families to develop relationships with one another through high quality, low barrier and inclusive Jewish experiences.
• Work in tandem with JCC departments to support family engagement initiatives and family forward events.
• Connect young families to community resources about family-friendly programs, events, and activities.
• Coordinate room setups, all program and event logistics.

HaKibbutz, for Hebrew-speaking children
• Actively outreach to identify Hebrew speaking families with children to grow the program.
• Work with the teachers and volunteer board to coordinate the logistics for the program which includes developing leadership skills, creating meaningful social connections and of course have fun, all in Hebrew.

Leadership Characteristics
• Loves people and has strong interpersonal and networking skills.
• Effective communicator, both written and oral communications, and experience with digital marketing and communication.
• Team player who is able to collaborate with staff and volunteers.
• Adaptable and attuned to the changing nature of families and Jewish life.

Qualifications
• University degree or relevant training.
• 2+ years of experience in event and program coordination.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Jewish culture and traditions.
• Must be able to work on Sundays, as well as occasional Saturdays and evenings as required.
• Familiarity with Jewish Ottawa is an asset.
• Ability to understand and speak Hebrew is an asset.

Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Free JCC membership, with free parking.
