ADATH SHALOM

Rates: High Holiday tickets costs $180. Synagogue family membership (including High Holiday tickets) costs $590. Single membership is $300 (includes High Holiday tickets). No one is ever turned away due to lack of funds. Members of any other synagogue are provided complimentary High Holy day tickets on request.

Youth programming/Child care: Rabbi will participate in a children’s program. Professional child care is offered.

Description: A Conservative, egalitarian congregation, Adath Shalom recognizes an equal role for men and women in aspects of ritual practice. Regular services are member-led and a visiting Rabbi provides leadership at High Holiday services. This year, Rabbi Shimshon Hamerman from Montreal, a respected spiritual leader and educator, will lead services.

Rates: Seats range from $50 for a child to $250 for a family or annual membership is $180 for students up to $600 for a family. Chabad has an open door policy and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Youth programming/Child care:  A team of youth directors from out of town run a fabulous program during the services, incorporating prayer, stories, drama, shofar, learning, raffles, lunch, and lots more.

Description:  Our services are inspirational, educational, and easy to follow. Everything is explained in English. The rabbi sprinkles stories, jokes and anecdotes, along with lots of surprises. Our goal is for one to come out of the experience inspired and excited to start a new year.

Specially designed for families with kids age 6 and under, our Young Family Service, led by Rabbi Deborah Zuker on each holiday morning, is family-centered and designed to introduce the themes of the High Holy Days to tots and their families. This service is open to members and non-members; pre-registration is required for all. A ‘kids’ lunch’ will be available on Yom Kippur.

Kol Nidre Family Service. Designed for families with elementary school-age children (5-10 years old), this abridged service, featuring the Kol Nidre prayer chanted by Cantor Green, will introduce Yom Kippur in an accessible, engaging, and kid-friendly setting. This service is open to members and non-members and is free of charge; advanced registration is required.

NEW! KBI Yom Kippur Healing Service
 “God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
This special service led by Rabbi Kenter is designed for those in need of healing for themselves or for loved ones.  We will pray, sing, meditate, and share together as we seek the strength necessary to face these great challenges and seek God’s support in that endeavour. While no tickets are required for this service, RSVPs are appreciated.

Youth Services (Grades K-12 in 5 age groups). Adult-led by our Youth Advisor, Shinshinit (Israeli emissary), guest lecturers, KBI clergy, and parent volunteers, will engage children of all ages in meaningful and age-appropriate prayers, songs, activities, stories, lectures, discussions, games, and shofar blowing. Healthy snacks will be provided.

The Nursery – (Children 5 and under). Staffed by experienced babysitters, this program will be comprised of individual playtime, story time, and group activities. All activities will be High Holy Day themed – your children will enjoy special holiday-themed snacks and hearing the shofar!

- Ottawa-area secondary and post-secondary students under 23 whose parents are not paying Tishrey Visitors or are not members of another Reconstructionist-affiliated congregation may attend Tishrey services with purchase of an annual student membership of only $36.
- Immediate family members of Or Haneshamah members who are not included in a household membership can attend at a cost of $36 per person, per holiday.
