The following synagogues welcome your attendance for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Please contact them directly for information or to obtain tickets.

ADATH SHALOM

Location: Soloway Jewish Community Centre, 21 Nadolny Sachs Private (regular year-round address is 31 Nadolny Sachs Private)

Rates: High Holiday tickets costs $180. Synagogue family membership (including High Holiday tickets) costs $590. Single membership is $325 (includes High Holiday tickets). No one is ever turned away due to lack of funds. Members of any other synagogue are provided complimentary High Holy day tickets on request.

Youth programming/Child care: Rabbi will participate in a children’s program. Professional child care is offered.

Description: A Conservative, egalitarian congregation, Adath Shalom recognizes an equal role for men and women in aspects of ritual practice. Regular services are member-led and a visiting Rabbi provides leadership at High Holiday services. This year, Rabbi Shimshon Hamerman from Montreal, a respected spiritual leader and educator, will lead services.

CHABAD OF CENTREPOINTE

Rates: Seats range from $50 for a child to $250 for a family or annual membership is $180 for students up to $600 for a family. Chabad has an open door policy and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. 

Affiliation:  Chabad Lubavitch worldwide, but our members range from unaffiliated, reform, conservative, orthodox. 

Youth programming/Child care:  A team of youth directors from out of town run a fabulous program during the services, incorporating prayer, stories, drama, shofar, learning, raffles, lunch, and lots more.

Description:  Our services are inspirational, educational, and easy to follow. Everything is explained in English. The rabbi sprinkles stories, jokes and anecdotes, along with lots of surprises. Our goal is for one to come out of the experience inspired and excited to start a new year.

JEWISH EDUCATION THROUGH TORAH (JET)

The Nursery – children in kindergarten or younger: This program will be comprised of individual playtime, story time, and group activities. All activities will be High Holiday themed – your children will enjoy hearing about Sammy Spider’s first Rosh Hashanah and listening to the shofar!

The Grade 1-3 Service: This engaging program will be comprised of prayers and songs, stories, and thematic games – a wonderful way for your children to be inspired during their time in shul.

The Grade 4-6 Service: This service will be lead in the style of our weekly Tefilateinu youth service. Using a special machzor, this service will be comprised of prayers, group discussions, thematic games and activities.

Teen Schmooze, Rosh Hashanah Day 2: Join our Israeli ShinShin for a special Teen Schmooze program!

Description: We recognize that our community has diverse needs for the High Holidays, so we attempt to meet those needs with an array of different offerings both in service and in target population.  Services include the Main Service (with choir), a primarily lay-led Chapel Service, our Young Family Service, and age specific offerings for children of ages.

Special Guest Rates
- Members of congregations affiliated with the Jewish Reconstructionist Communities may attend all services FREE of charge. Simply register in advance at  membership@orh.ca.
- Ottawa-area secondary and post-secondary students under 23 whose parents are not paying Tishrey guests or are not members of another Reconstructionist-affiliated congregation may attend Tishrey services with purchase of an annual student membership of only $36.
- Immediate family members of Or Haneshamah members who are not included in a household membership and members' guests from out-of-town can attend at a cost of $36 for each of the two High Holy Days.

Description: Temple Israel, Ottawa’s Reform synagogue will hold High Holy Day Services for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. Our services feature both traditional and contemporary Jewish music. This year our music will be led by Dr. Tanya Sermer, a world class cantorial soloist who grew up in Toronto and now lives in Jerusalem and teaches ethnomusicology at Hebrew University. We are an egalitarian synagogue and our services are a mix of English and Hebrew prayers. We offer services for all ages, including separate family and children’s services. We welcome anyone to make arrangements to purchase tickets from the Temple Israel office. All students are welcome to attend and need only show their student ID cards.
