Dear Friends,
Over the years, we have had the privilege of traveling together with members of our shul to encounter Jewish history in the places where it unfolded, and to gain a deeper understanding of the global Jewish communities that have shaped who we are today.
We have traveled to Israel multiple times—each journey with a different focus and purpose, and each leaving a lasting impression on those who took part.
Following conversations within our community about the meaning and impact of these journeys, we led a March of the Living–style trip through Germany and Poland and then to Israel. On that journey, we encountered both the extraordinary richness and contributions of Ashkenazi Jewry, as well as the devastation of the Holocaust. We also led a journey to Spain, where we explored the strength, creativity, and influence of Sephardic Jewry, alongside the abrupt rupture of the Inquisition.
Each of these experiences added something essential to our understanding of who we are and where we come from. Together, they deepened our connection to Jewish history and identity, an inheritance built on the faith, resilience, creativity, and commitment of generations past.
We are now excited to invite you on a new journey, one that offers a different lens and a different chapter of the Jewish story.
Argentina is home to the largest Jewish community in Latin America and one of the most significant Jewish populations in the world. Jewish life there developed with confidence and scale: schools, shuls, cultural institutions, political movements, and a strong communal infrastructure that remains active and growing today.
Argentina also occupies a complex place in modern Jewish history. It served as a refuge for Jews fleeing persecution, and later as a place where Holocaust survivors rebuilt their lives. At the same time, it became a hiding place for Nazi perpetrators. In more recent history, the Jewish community of Argentina was profoundly impacted by the 1994 AMIA bombing of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires—one of the most significant antisemitic attacks since the Holocaust. That tragedy continues to influence Jewish identity, security, and communal responsibility today.
At the same time, Argentina is very much a place of living Jewish life. We will experience Jewish neighborhoods, communal institutions, and a beautiful Shabbat in a major Jewish city, encountering the rhythms of daily Jewish life in ways that are engaging, energizing, and uplifting.
And, of course, Argentina is renowned for its exceptional kosher cuisine. Our itinerary is designed to allow us to enjoy a wide range of kosher establishments, adding another wonderful dimension to the journey.
In the arc of the journeys we have led together, Argentina is a natural next step: a chance to explore Jewish rebuilding, creativity, challenge, and continuity, while also enjoying an extraordinary country and sharing a meaningful experience as a community.
