What is the Shabbat Project?

The Shabbat Project is a global, grassroots movement that brings Jews from across the world together through uniting over our shared heritage: Shabbat. The initiative was first introduced in South Africa in 2013, and has since spread across the Jewish world. Shabbat Project is about: accessing the experience of celebrating Shabbat, together, as Jews around the world. The inspiring gift that Shabbat is – both for ourselves and our families – emerges only when we live out Shabbat practically, in a real and experiential way.

On the Shabbat of October 27-28, 2017 Ottawa will be participating in the Shabbat Project in our community!

Shabbat begins at sunset on Friday and ends at nightfall the following evening. Here are some tools to help you unlock the magic of keeping Shabbat.
